A short educational checklist for reviewing contributions, costs, allocation, beneficiaries and required actions.
Are your contributions on track?
Review what you have contributed across every IRA this year and compare it with the limit that applies to your circumstances. Contribution eligibility and limits can change, so verify current rules before acting.
Do you know what the account costs?
Look at fund expense ratios and any separate account or advice fees. Translate percentages into annual dollars so the cost is easier to compare with the value you receive.
Does the allocation still match your horizon?
Market movement can change the balance among stocks, bonds and cash. Compare the current mix with an educational target before deciding whether any change is appropriate.
Are beneficiaries current?
Beneficiary designations usually control where an IRA goes. Review names and backup beneficiaries after major family or estate-plan changes.
Is a deadline approaching?
Required distributions, conversions and some contribution decisions can be date-sensitive. Confirm applicable deadlines with a qualified tax or financial professional.
